Raising Awareness

In our commitment to building trust and fostering understanding between Indigenous and non-Indigenous communities, the Jeannette Rankin Peace Center (JRPC) proudly facilitates Indigen-Unity. Through vibrant art markets, enriching workshops, and cultural learning opportunities, we create safe spaces where diverse voices can come together, celebrate heritage, and forge connections grounded in mutual respect. Our program stands as a symbolic gesture of restitution, acknowledging and honoring the cultural wealth and land that has been historically and persistently stolen from Indigenous peoples.

Indigen-Unity uplifts Indigenous voices and perspectives in Western Montana by providing space, education, and advocacy rooted in cultural resilience. At the heart of the program is our commitment to offering rent-free spaces for Indigenous artists, ensuring they have opportunities to share their work, generate income, and connect with the community. Through educational sessions and the development of Indigenous-focused curriculum, Indigen-Unity creates pathways for deeper understanding of Indigenous rights, history, and peace traditions. The program also amplifies advocacy for Missing & Murdered Indigenous Relatives (MMIR), raising awareness of this ongoing crisis and engaging community members in meaningful dialogue and action. Guided by an active committee of Indigenous leaders, artists, and allies, Indigen-Unity builds bridges across cultures, strengthens community partnerships, and ensures that Indigenous knowledge and perspectives are centered in efforts toward justice, healing, and peace.

We are proud to have partnered with community organizations such as All Nations Health Center, Mika Matters, Red Sand Project, Western Montana Fair, Zootown Arts Community Center (ZACC), and the Human Sex Trafficking Task Force in these endeavors. Through these collaborations, we have not only provided platforms for Indigenous voices but also ensured fair compensation for the Indigenous artists, performers, and educators.

Through this program, we aim to build bridges of understanding and trust between Indigenous and non-Indigenous community members. By organizing events that celebrate Indigenous heritage, promote education, and raise awareness, we strive to create a space where peace and justice are not just ideals but lived realities.

Join us as we continue to be allies to Indigenous peoples in the fight for environmental and racial justice. Together, we can create a world where peace, justice, and sustainability flourish for all.

At the forefront of our efforts lies our commitment to uplifting the Indigenous community and advocating for awareness of Missing and Murdered Relatives.
