Remembering Shannon Pinkston our Community Peace Baker

On June 21st our community lost a longtime Peace Center supporter and friend to many, the Peace Baker (Shannon Pinkston). Shannon was called the Peace Baker for her years of baking for our events, awardees, and programs. From what I have learned her kindness and peace spreading spirit was in service to the Missoula community and beyond. In lieu of flowers, the family asked for donations to be made to JRPC in her memory. Contributions have been received from and condolences go out to: Maggie Volk & the Alpha Nu chapter of Kappa Alpha Theta, Judy and Richard Haley, Kevin and Allison Haley, Rebecca Dickinson, and Stephen and Angela Lodmell.

We would like to ask everyone reading this to take a moment and honor Shannon and those in our lives who give without expectation, who build bridges of peace in everyday life, and who show up selflessly.

As we enter a weekend filled with vast differences in opinion, remember to take those deep breaths, walk away when you need to, listen with the purpose of hearing vs. responding, and always call for that ride home. You will not be the only one pondering questions of freedom, privilege, and occupation. Stay safe out there.
